Petco Park in San Diego is a great venue. The concert started over 30 minutes late, but Mavis Staples entertained us for just under 3 hours! She definitely did not phone it in. The sound system for the concert was amazing. The band was truly good! Yes, her voice is not quite what it was, but neither is mine, and I'm 10 years younger. The songs were a good mix of Beatles, Wings, and newer tunes. She seemed to be having a great time, and so were we. I do wish there had been a couple more video screens in the park. And Mavis did 3 encores of 3 songs each! This concert was the soundtrack of my life performed by the original...doesn't get any better than that!
